The Final Journey

As the years passed, Bhai Mardana Ji grew old in the service of the Guru. It is recorded in the Janamsakhis that during the later period of his life, he fell seriously ill. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Sahib, who loved him dearly, remained by his side and cared for him with great tenderness. When Bhai Mardana Ji's time of departure drew near, the Guru Ji comforted him and assured him that he had attained the highest spiritual state through his unwavering devotion and selfless service. Bhai Mardana Ji breathed his last in the presence of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Sahib, peacefully surrendering his soul to the Will of the Almighty. His passing, known as his Akal Chalana, marked the end of a blessed earthly companionship that had lasted a lifetime.
